AI Changed the Tools. People Still Build the Business.
Productivity moved. The human parts of commercial work — judgment, relationships, and the actual conversation — did not go anywhere.

Field Notes
Forge Columbus perspective
AI has genuinely changed the preparation layer of commercial work. Drafting, summarizing, researching a category, restructuring a plan, preparing for objections — all faster than they were.
That is a real gain, and treating it as hype is a mistake. So is treating it as a replacement for the part of the job that involves a person deciding whether to trust you.
Judgment is still human. A model can generate five approaches. Choosing which one fits this client, this market, and this month is a decision someone has to own.
Relationships are still human. Accounts are kept by people who follow up, tell the truth about what went wrong, and stay reachable.
The conversation is still human. In a retail environment, a customer is reading confidence, honesty, and whether you are actually listening. No tool intermediates that.
Our own view — analysis, not prediction — is that the value of clear communication goes up rather than down as generated content becomes ordinary. When everyone can produce a polished paragraph, the differentiator is the person standing in front of the customer.
Learn the tools. They are part of professional literacy now. Then go build the part they cannot.
